It’s been one week since the election. What a great night we had last Monday. Thanks to months of hard work, we won decisively.
This is a very exciting time for me and for my family. I want to thank each of you who helped out in any way. I feel so much gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, talents and money to our campaign. It feels great to walk into City Hall with such a strong mandate, thanks to all of you. We’re planning our volunteer appreciation celebration - stay tuned.
Speaking of walking into City Hall, I did that last Wednesday morning.
Since then we have set up our office, hired two talented staff, been given a parking spot and keys to the building, and met the outstanding city employees who have helped me and the other new councillors get settled.
On Wednesday afternoon, all of City Council gathered for lunch with Mayor-elect Don Iveson to talk about our campaigns and recount what we heard from voters. I am pleased to serve with Don and my new colleagues to move Edmonton forward.
Our new City Council will be sworn in on Tuesday afternoon. We will then head into our first council meeting to approve all the committee appointments for the coming year and years.
We are also in the process of repurposing our website and will use it to keep everyone updated on my work in Ward 10 and at city hall.
