Smarter Growth and Important Investments in South Edmonton

South Edmonton, particularly the southwest, is the fastest growing part of our City. We need to manage the rapid residential growth expanding southwards and the associated traffic and transportation challenges much better. We need to build on recent forward looking planning decisions such as the rezoning of Century Park, requirements for higher density in new suburbs, and small scale densification in mature communities. We need to address the growing number of homeless people in South Edmonton and continue to work with school boards to more effectively integrate school planning with city planning.

 I commit to work for:

  1. LRT expansion to Heritage Valley Town Centre and construction of the Heritage Valley Park and Ride

  2. Better bus service to LRT stations and to the University of Alberta

  3. Widening of James Mowatt Trail

  4. A new recreation centre to replace the Scona Pool and funding for the construction of the Twin Arena (ice rinks) at the UofA South Campus

  5. A new LRT Station near Harry Ainlay and Louis St. Laurent High Schools

  6. Collaboration and engagement with the many South Edmonton community, business, and political leaders to create solutions for affordable housing and the opioid crisis
