2015 has been an incredible year, and I’m proud of what this Council has been able to accomplish. We passed our first multi-year Operating Budget, the Energy Transition Strategy is gaining steam, and our relationships with our regional partners are stronger than ever.
We’ve also faced some challenges, like infrastructure challenges with the Metro Line and the 102 St Bridge which we are working to address. There have been challenging issues in Pleasantview, and we continue to push the developer at Century Park to follow through on the project. We’ll continue to work hard in the coming year, but I think it’s healthy once and a while to reflect on the year and celebrate the victories.
I’ve connected with so many great constituents this year, and am continually amazed by the hard work and dedication so many Ward 10 residents put into making their communities better. I hope that you’ll all take time to reflect on your successes this year as well - be it speaking before Council on an issue you care about, organizing a community event, or simply lending a hand to a neighbour. These small things add up to make Ward 10 the amazing place it is, a place that I’m proud to represent.
The Ward 10 office will be closed from December 19 to December 27. My staff will reply to pressing matters from December 28 to January 5. If you have urgent matters, particularly pertaining to snow removal, I’d recommend contacting 311 over the holiday period, as they will be able to respond quickly and effectively.
My best wishes to you and your family this holiday season, and have a very happy New Year! I’ll be back in January with a whole new year’s worth of blogs and updates on the work I’m doing.
